1 - Cusco - Lares Hot Springs - Huacahuasi
Depart Cusco at 6 am and follow the Sacred Valley Road to the hot springs, arriving in time for lunch. After lunch you will start your trek from the hot springs following an old Inca trail along the Huacahuasi River.
2 - Huacahuasi - Ipsaycocha - Patacchanta
Leaving Huacahuasi, the trek passes through more local villages with the majestic snow-capped Apu Pitusiray in the background. After passing the 4,800m mark, the descent winds through Lake Ipsaycocha and continues through the valley to Patacchanta. From here we go to Machu Picchu.
3 - Machu Picchu
Trekking and Exploration At the end of the trek we arrive in Ollantaytambo where we have two options.
Option 1: Stay in Ollantaytambo and go to Aguas Calientes the next day.
Option 2: Go directly to Aguas Calientes after the trek. This option involves a long last day and another busy day, but both options are available.
It is possible to hike Machu Picchu and Huayna Picchu mountain, prior reservation.
